Cardiovascular Risk Calculators
Provided below are links to a further three online CV risk calculators produced by the Joint European Societies’ Task Force on Cardiovascular Disease Prevention, the US National Institutes of Health and the American Heart Association, respectively, are provided below.
Please be aware that these calculators should be used as a guide to estimating patient risk and should not be used as the sole basis for patient management.
HeartScore
Provided by: European Society of Cardiology
HeartScore is the electronic and interactive version of the SCORE1 risk charts developed by the Joint European Societies’ Task Force on Cardiovascular Disease Prevention in Clinical Practice. HeartScore aims to support clinicians in optimizing individual cardiovascular risk reduction. Ten-year risk estimates are given based on patient’s blood pressure, total cholesterol level and smoking history. High and low risk versions are available depending upon the physician’s country, and multiple European translations are provided.
Estimating 10-year Risk of Developing ‘Hard’ CHD
Provided by: US National Institute’s of Health (NIH)
Using data from the Framingham Heart Study,2,3 the NIH’s risk assessment tool helps physicians to estimate a patient’s 10-year risk of myocardial infarction and coronary death (i.e, ‘hard’ coronary heart disease outcomes). The tool is designed to estimate risk in adults ≥ 20 years who do not have diabetes or pre-existing heart disease.
Heart Attack/Coronary Heart Disease Risk Assessment
Provided by: American Heart Association
Designed for use by patients without pre-existing diabetes or cardiovascular disease. To use the tool patients must know their systolic and diastolic blood pressure, total, low- and high density lipoprotein cholesterol, and triglyceride levels, fasting blood glucose, height, weight, and waist circumference. Based on Framingham Heart Study2,3 data.
