Revising Concepts of Blood Pressure Treatment - From Target Goals to Target-Organ Protection

Barcelona, Spain

Hypertension is an escalating healthcare problem worldwide. Thus, the achievement of blood pressure goals with an appropriate treatment regimen is becoming increasingly important to protect against a range of cardiovascular events in a progressive continuum of vascular damage.

Blood pressure control rates average <20% in the worldwide hypertensive population, demonstrating a gap between scientific evidence and clinical practice. New strategies are, therefore, needed to implement powerful blood pressure lowering and provide optimal protection against cardiovascular events.

The presentations discuss the achievement of blood pressure goals in the context of metabolic syndrome, stroke prevention, and kidney and cardiovascular complications.

We hope that the topics covered in this webcast will evoke thought-provoking discussion into important concepts of treating patients with hypertension.
