ONTARGET®: New Standard in Cardio and Vascular Protection

Hypertension 2008 - The Joint Congress of the European Society of Hypertension (ESH) and the International Society of Hypertension (ISH)

After the release of the results from the landmark trial ONTARGET®, at the American College of Cardiology in Chicago in March 2008, special attention has been focused on ARBs in general, on their use in daily clinical practice, and the potential effects they may have beyond that of blood pressure control.

At the 2008 joint congress of the European Society of Hypertension (ESH) and the International Society of Hypertension (ISH), in Berlin, Boehringer Ingelheim and Bayer Schering Pharma gathered a group of international experts from the UK, Italy, Germany and Canada to present the symposium 'ONTARGET®: New Standard in Cardio and Vascular Protection'. This symposium was chaired Professor Thomas Unger and Professor Salim Yusuf.
