Study Population

ONTARGET^®: 25,620 patients enrolled from 40 countries

TRANSCEND^®: 5,926 patients enrolled from 40 countries

Inclusion criteria

• ≥ 55 years of age
• At high risk of cardiovascular disease:
  • coronary artery disease
  • peripheral arterial occlusive disease
  • stroke or recent transient ischaemic attack
  • diabetes with end-organ damage
• Intolerant to ACE inhibitors (TRANSCEND^® ONLY)

Exclusion criteria

• Overt heart failure
• Arterial hypertension (>160/100 mmHg)
• Diabetic patients with proteinuria (TRANSCEND^® ONLY)
